The WAVE CHEF is a compact freeze-drying concept designed for restaurants, chefs and food producers. Several prototype iterations were developed featuring a total drying surface of 1 m² and a capacity of approximately 4 kg, utilising a separate cold trap. Units could be integrated into a standard kitchen cabinet or used as standalone tabletop devices. The design is fully enclosed on all sides except the front, requiring all heat to be discharged forward. Overall performance was limited and servicing the internal components — particularly the pump and cooling system — proved difficult due to restricted access. Development is currently paused until more suitable vacuum or cooling technologies become available.
