WAVE Launches the IC570MAX: Industrial Freeze Drying Without Downtime
Our most powerful machine to date: a dual-chamber cold trap eliminates defrost stoppages, extracting up to 25 kg of ice per hour on a footprint of just 4.4 m² — engineered and built in Vienna.

Vienna, 7 July 2026 — Wave Trockensysteme GmbH today announced the IC570MAX, the most powerful freeze dryer in the WAVE line-up. The system is aimed at food, pet food, coffee and pharmaceutical producers who want to move from batch operation to continuous production — without stepping up into the price class of traditional large-scale installations.
Why we built the IC570MAX
Industrial freeze drying has traditionally meant a multi-million investment, a dedicated building and years of lead time. Producers scaling beyond batch machines had nowhere to go but up — way up. The IC570MAX closes that gap: continuous industrial drying capacity in a machine that fits into an existing production room.
No more defrost downtime: the dual-chamber cold trap
At the heart of the IC570MAX is its dual-chamber cold trap: while one chamber collects water, the second defrosts using the excess heat of the refrigeration process — alternating continuously, without ever interrupting the drying cycle.
What that means in practice
The defrost stoppages typical of conventional systems are eliminated entirely. The machine extracts up to 25 kg of ice per hour in continuous operation, and the defrost energy is recovered from the cooling process instead of being wasted.
The chamber holds 1,700 litres with 108 trays across 25.9 m² of shelf area. Every shelf is individually temperature-controlled up to +80 °C, with cooling down to −70 °C. How the underlying process works is covered in our engineer’s guide to freeze drying.
Standard industrial components, no vendor lock-in
Like every WAVE machine, the IC570MAX is built exclusively from open industrial technology: Siemens Simatic S7 PLC control, ABB safety systems, Bitzer compressors, Leybold vacuum technology, Phoenix Contact and Danfoss throughout.
No exotic proprietary parts — any industrial technician worldwide can service and repair the machine, and all critical spare parts ship from stock. The system is remotely monitored via the WAVE IoT network with dedicated SIM connectivity; support responds around the clock via WhatsApp, with service centres in Vienna, the United States, Spain, Dubai and India.
The most compact machine in its class
With a footprint of roughly 3.7 × 1.2 metres and a weight of 3,150 kg, the IC570MAX is the most compact machine in its performance class. It fits through standard industrial doors and into existing production rooms — where conventional industrial freeze dryers require a dedicated building.
